This past weekend, Paola Ascencio, Paralegal of Waltz, Palmer & Dawson, LLC, (pictured on the far left in the above photo) and the Northern Illinois University’s Mock Trial Team competed in the American Mock Trial Association Regional Tournament hosted by Northwestern University in Evanston. The competition consisted of 20 teams competing for one of the 6 bids. Only 6 bids are awarded to teams advancing to the Opening Round Championship Series (ORCS), the opening round before teams advance to the AMTA National Tournament.
NIU earned 1 of 6 bids to ORCS, and also earned the designated Spirit of AMTA award, which is awarded to only one team that is recognized as the team that best exemplifies AMTA’s ideals—civility, justice, and fair play.
